Green Shoots

I pruned my garden early this year and have been watching for signs of growth expectantly.  A few weeks ago, I noticed shoots beginning to appear, a week later it seemed like Spring was in full flow and now, after these weeks of rain, the garden is overflowing with buds and blossom.Sometimes when we instigate change, it’s hard at first to see what’s shifting.  We get impatient for the end result.  Yet, if we open our eyes carefully, we can spot the first signs of “green shoots” that overtime will multiply and grow.

If I choose, I can, even in the midst of this spring growth, wander around my garden and notice only the gaps in the flower bed, the shrub branches that didn’t survive the winter or the many jobs still to be done.  It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and demotivated.  It’s only when I overlook this and choose to focus on the more invigorating view, that I ever find the energy and commitment to carry on.

What do you focus on?
