Dignity at Work

Everyone is getting ready for the Olympics and London is getting a spring clean.  We will be taking a break to watch some of the events in August and meanwhile, we're excited at Indigo about work that is coming to fruition and work that is being planned for the Autumn.Being treated with respect.  Isn't that what everyone wants when they go to work? Isn't that what helps people stay motivated and give their best to the organisation?  Our Dignity at Work programme is designed to give managers the self awareness and confidence to handle every day conversations well and thoughtfully.  BMS have now signed off their pilot programme and are ready to roll it out across the organisation.

Delegates found it thought-provoking and loved Stephen Burt's facilitation style and the witty, yet challenging scenarios played out by our partners, Role Plays for Training.Getting a team to build on it's strengths whilst not shirking it's weaknesses is something the Olympic coaches know a lot about.  A Risk Management Team gained insights about how to build on their strengths and get the best from each other when Elizabeth Lovius joined them to work on their Insights profiles in June.Sian Richards joins our Executive Coaching team and brings not just her experience working in all sectors, but also her curiousity about organisational development.  Sian is skilled at knowing when to deal with the individual and when working with the organisation would bring greater benefits.  We love this approach and know that her work is dynamic, challenging and thought-provoking.Kent Fire and Rescue Service gave us a very clear steer when they asked us to coach there.  That approach was so helpful to the process and is now delivering results.  We're talking to them about extending our work.

When you're a manager in a company that punches above it's weight and has to stay incredibly customer focused to grow,  it's really important that you continue to stay being the expert and deliver on your own targets as well as developing and managing the team.  It's a tough call keeping all the balls in the air and sometimes when the pressure is on, you may drop one. Keeping managers alert to this, helping them prioritise their people management role whilst still meeting the needs of clients and the boss, is something we'll be helping managers at an international reputation strategy and management consultancy with in the Autumn.  It's great to be working with them again. It's so special when one of our delegates recommends us for more work.  That's what happened when one of Colne Housing Association's managers' attended Sarah Smith's management programme at the Chartered Institute of Housing.  She was so impressed that she spoke to her Operations Director and we'll be working with them in the Autumn."Stuck in the middle with me".  Remember that line from a catchy pop song?  In times of re-organisation with a lack of staff, people still getting to know new jobs, that is sometimes how it can feel being a line manager.  Our second group of managers at Wellingborough Homes completed their STEPS programme last week.   They were learning about

Setting the scene, Team work, Engaging and inspiring, Planning and Sustaining and nurturing people through change.

Swindon Borough Council are a new client for us and we're just starting off our coaching work with them.Grand Union Housing Group have commissioned more Introduction to Management  work with us via the Chartered Institute of Housing.  Apparently feedback about the programme was so good, and the impact it had so useful, that they have decided to extend the programme to some of their potential managers - nurturing their talent so that they can hit the ground running on their first promotion.
